The three things you should do if you're a victim of identity theft are:

  1. Monitor your credit reports. Keep an eye. See if the identity thief is still using your credit information. 
  2. Place a 90 day credit fraud alert on your credit reports. 
  3. Make sure you have filed a police report. Just as you have no case if you haven't sent a dispute letter, you have no ability to dispute something without a police report saying that you are not the person that bought those debts, but really the victim.
