Can collectors refuse to give me a reasonable payment plan?

Unfortunately, you can not compel a debt collector to have a payment plan with you. Unfortunately, the law does not require that they act reasonable with you, just ethically and legally. However, what  would recommend doing is writing them a letter asking for a payment plan. Down the road, you will look reasonable in your attempts to make good on this debt.
